Exhibit at the Official Catoctin Colorfest

Catoctin Colorfest is a juried arts and crafts show held each October in Thurmont Community Park, featuring high-quality handmade work created by the exhibiting artist or craftsperson.

All items offered for sale must be handcrafted by the participating exhibitor.

Other vendors and activities throughout Thurmont during Colorfest weekend are independently organized and are not part of the juried show.

Is This Show Right for You?

Handmade by the Artist

All items must be handcrafted by the exhibitor. Work should reflect your own design and craftsmanship.

Quality Matters

We look for strong craftsmanship, attention to detail, and work that is ready for display in a juried show

No Resale or Imports

Buy/sell items, mass-produced goods, and imported products are not permitted in the juried show.

Commitment to the Weekend

Exhibitors are expected to staff their booth for the full duration of the event and present work consistent with their approved application

Jury Process & Standards

Catoctin Colorfest is a juried show. Applications are reviewed based on quality, originality, and presentation, as well as the overall balance of the show. Complete applications with all required materials are necessary for consideration.

How Applications Are Reviewed

Each application is reviewed using the materials submitted, including descriptions and images of your work.

Applications are evaluated based on:

  • Originality and design
  • Craftsmanship and quality
  • Consistency of the work shown
  • Presentation and professionalism
  • Category balance within the show

What Is Accepted

The show features handmade work created by the exhibiting artist or craftsperson. Accepted categories include:

  • Wood, fiber, and decorative crafts
  • Jewelry and wearable art
  • Painting, drawing, and fine art
  • Pottery, ceramics, and glass
  • Other original handcrafted work

What Is Not Permitted

The following are not permitted in the juried show:

  • Buy/sell or resale items
  • Mass-produced or commercially manufactured goods
  • Imported items not made by the exhibitor
  • Work that differs significantly from what was submitted for jury review
  • Commercially branded or licensed merchandise

Consistency of Work

All items displayed and sold must be consistent with the work submitted during the application process.

Catoctin Colorfest reserves the right to request the removal of items or vendors that do not meet these standards.

Application Process & Key Dates

For 2026, applications are submitted by mail. Please follow the steps below and include all required materials for consideration.

How to Apply

Prepare Your Application

Complete the vendor application in full, including contact information, Maryland sales tax number, product categories, and a description of all items you plan to sell.

Include Required Materials

Include the signed application, fee, a 9 x 12 self-addressed envelope with 3 first-class stamps, and at least 3 photos of your work. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Mail Your Application

Return your completed application packet to Catoctin Colorfest, Inc., P.O. Box 33, Thurmont, MD 21788 by May 1.

Jury Review

Applications and submitted photos are reviewed by the Jurying Committee, along with available space for each type of craft.

Acceptance Notification

After the jury review, vendors are selected based on quality, category balance, and available space. Applicants who are not accepted will have their check and photos returned.

Receive Event Information

Accepted vendors receive an information packet in September that includes submitted photos, a parking permit, a letter of instruction, and a brochure.

Craft Vendor Fee

$360 per space in Community Park

Food Vendors

Food vendors are managed separately from the juried arts and crafts show. Please call 301-271-7533 for fee and application information.

Accepted Vendors Receive

Accepted vendors receive a September information packet with event details, parking permits, and setup instructions.

Returning Vendors

Vendors who participated in the most recent Colorfest receive application materials for the following year at the close of the event.

Vendors who did not participate in the previous year must apply as new applicants and go through the current jury process.

Prior participation does not guarantee acceptance.

Booth Information & Expectations

Accepted vendors are expected to follow basic setup and participation guidelines to help ensure a consistent, well-run show.

Booth Spaces

  • Booth space is located within Thurmont Community Park.
  • Booth spaces have up to 15 feet of frontage and are typically 10 feet deep.  
  • Booth spaces are located in a public park setting with trees, roots, and uneven ground. Conditions may vary from year to year due to seasonal changes and park maintenance. 
  • Space sizes and layouts are not uniform, and vendors should be prepared to adapt their setup accordingly.
  • Vendors are responsible for providing their own tents, tables, displays, and other setup materials unless otherwise noted.

Electrical & Special Requirements

Please indicate any electrical equipment or special requirements on your application. Availability may be limited and cannot be guaranteed.

Approved Work Only

All items displayed and sold must match the work submitted and approved during the application process.

Setup & Attendance

Vendors must be set up by the designated start time and remain open for the full duration of the event. Early teardown is not permitted.

Outdoor Event Conditions

Colorfest is held outdoors in Community Park. Vendors should be prepared for varying weather conditions throughout the weekend.
